Hey everyone!! The school year is coming to an end, so Asian Club needs to hold one last meeting. It will be on Wednesday, June 7th right after school in Ms. Mancuso's room.
We will be holding elections for next year's Asian Club board. Priya will be your president next year. Here are the available positions: Vice President Secretary Treasurer Junior Rep. Sophomore Rep.
As you can see, the position of co-president has been eliminated. This means that the position of president for the 2007-2008 school year will NOT be guaranteed at this meeting. That future president will be elected at next year's election. Please remember that a good president has experience working with people, especially the board members, AND the administration (because you'll need them on your side when planning events).
If you would like to run for a position, you MUST attend this meeting. No exceptions will be made (unless you're sick with pneumonia)!! Please be aware that if you intend on running for any of the position and you get elected for that position, you will be expected to be able to meet with the board and work hard during the summer as well as during the school year. You may only run for one position. You are strongly discouraged from running for a position if you feel that you are too busy to meet with the other board members and organize events. You are also discouraged from running if you have not contributed much to the club. Also, remember that the current juniors on my board, Esha and Anamika, plan on running again (Priya's is the only guaranteed position)- and the two of them have been phenomenal this year.
ALL members are encouraged to attend this meeting to support the candidates. The more voters there are, the likelier the winning candidates will be people who you (the club) actually want on the board next year. We will also be showing the dance that our Asian Club brought to Fuse, Marlboro's Asian Show, this year.
In addition to attending this meeting, there are several pre-election requirements you must fulfill. Copy and paste the following bolded questions into a new email, answer the questions, and send it back to me (Steph, see email for email addy). Put “Asian Club elections” in the subject line of the email. If you do not fill this out, you will not be placed on the ballot.
Name:
Grade:
Homeroom:
Email address:
What position are you running for?
What have you contributed to Asian Club this past school year (2005-2006)? What was your attendance like? (Please answer honestly. Remember that I, Steph, actually took the time to keep record of all this information.)
What would you like to contribute to Asian Club for the 2006-2007 school year? Do you have any plans/ideas in mind?
What will your summer be like? What are your plans? Are you able and willing to meet with the board and work on Asian Club plans during the summer?
What are your afterschool activities for the 2006-2007 school year?
To summarize, here's how the election process will go:
1. Candidate will fill out questionnaire and send it back to Steph. I must have them back by Monday, June 5th at 8:30pm. No entries will be accepted afterwards. If you do not have computer access or have some kind of problem that would keep you from making this deadline, please let me know ahead of time!!! Call me, find me in school... just let me know!
2. The current board members will meet with candidates if needed.
3. The day of elections, each of the candidates will make a brief speech about why everyone else should vote for them.
4. Paper ballots will be distributed. Club members will vote.
5. Ballots will be collected and counted. While ballots are being counted, we will show the dance that our Asian Club brought to Fuse, Marlboro's Annual Asian Show. If time permits, you will get a chance to see some of the other performances as well.
6. Winners will be announced.
I will try to get some snacks or something.
